| i was told by several other forum members that the malossi reed cage, part # 2711796....(pretty sure tthe right #).. it has a 2 finger petal instead of the oem 3.. is this a good shot or should i try a 2 sided 4 finger(getting to fit in zx would be an issue tho).......any input would be greatly appreciated, if this one i want to order this week also with my up coming matching project....... |

Here's another option. Provoscooter has some
Malossi carbon reeds the fit the stock reed cage.
In the past there were a lot of problems with their orders, maybe
now it's different. You might try to call and double check that
these will fit, and that they have them in stock.
Another good place, maybe to try first, is Moped Hospital in
Florida. |

| oh yes, they totally suck over at malossi.(posted also but no replys)... BUT i have to send a few things back and will get "store credit"... zombie and shaka(they frequent here and another forum) had mentioned this reed cage...the cage does look the most similar to the oem fit.. heard to try a double sided cage, but those wont fit...moped hospital i checked and nobody (checked provo also)seemed to have any for a zx.(as you probably know, the zx is in a class ALL by itself:parts, specs, etc.) |

What's up Batman?
Here's the intake manifold I'm running on mine, it comes with a 2-sided reed block.
http://www.mhr-usa.com/intakes/manifolds/motorio-intake-manifolds-for-honda.html
It's the middle one in the pic. It should work with the stock carb as well. I did have to make some slight modifications to the holes (elongate) to get my carb to fit though. Good porting practice with the dremel! I also had to install a nipple for the vacuum line to the petcock. I pulled a fitting out of my stock carb and drilled a hole, and pressed it in with a little JB weld for good measure. |

| Batman- That middle intake manifold is a direct bolt on. It matches right up to the case. I just had to elongate the two holes where the carb mounts. I had to move them closer together by a few mm's each. I also matched up the inside of the inlet to match the carb perfect. There wasn't much work there, the hole in the manifold was just slightly smaller than my carb outlet. Keep in mind I am not running the stock carb, but my Arreche has the same interface as the stock carb, so it should fit just as well. |

| hey shaka, thanks for the reply.... that intake just doesnt look like my stock carb would even mount(no bolt holes to mount to). dude, i sure could use your advice, got my motor apart RIGHT HOW..lmao wanted to matdh.....thats one of the reasons i had considered that malossi cage, that way i can still use my oem intake till i could catch a intake and carb.... |

| Sorry about the delay, been pretty busy lately! That middle intake manifold does have bolt holes to mount the carb. You just can's see them in the pic. I think I have some pics of mine on my other computer after I added the vacuum nipple and did a bit of grinding on it I can email them to you if you like. I don't feel like uploading to post them on here. Otherwise, If you don't want to deal with adding a vacuum nipple and such, the Malossi reeds may be the way to go. However, that stock intake is very restrictive! |
